Dive into the exciting world of digital music production with GarageBand Private Lessons! These hands-on lessons are perfect for beginner to intermediate piano students eager to explore music creation through technology. Using MIDI controller keyboards connected to iPads, students will learn how to make beats, craft melodies, and remix their favorite songs. And the best part? These skills can be continued at home with just an iPad! By the end of the semester, student will create their own original beat or song to share with family and friends at DAMPA's 2025 Winter Recital!
PROGRAM FOCUS
- Understanding MIDI controllers and iPad music software
- Exploring digital instruments and sounds
- Learning basic beat-making and looping techniques
- Creating melodies and harmonies using keyboard skills
- Introduction to music production, mixing, and effects

- MIDI keyboard controller (provided)
- iPad with music production apps (provided)

OUTCOMES
Students will complete the semester with a finished audio track they can share, along with foundational skills in music production and composition using modern technology. Students will get live performance opportunities, including performing their recorded audio track at DAMPA's 2025 Winter Recital!
