
Theresa Canaday is a piano instructor at Dallas Academy of Music and Performing Arts who began musical training at age six and competed in piano and instrumental competitions through middle and high school. She earned a piano scholarship to the University of Evansville, where she studied under Sandra Botkin, taught in the Piano Preparatory Department, and completed a Bachelor of Music Education. She later earned a Master of Music in Piano Pedagogy from Southern Methodist University, working as a graduate assistant under Louise Bianchi, and taught classroom piano in the Dallas, Garland, and St. Pius X school systems for 32 years before joining Dallas Academy of Music in 2013. She holds that all students can successfully study piano and develop a lifelong appreciation for the musical arts.
