First-time players, continuing students, and adults returning after time away are welcome.

A foundation that supports your goals

Develop reading, rhythm, technique, listening, theory, and musical expression through repertoire and activities suited to your level. A traditional path may draw on methods such as Faber, Alfred, or Bastien, adapted by the teacher.

Other students focus on lead sheets, chord voicings, playing by ear, improvisation, or songwriting. Your teacher’s strengths help shape the balance.

Learn to shape the sound

Our acoustic pianos give students hands-on experience with touch, dynamics, pedaling, and tone. Technical work connects to how a phrase feels and sounds, helping students make musical choices as they play.

Your teacher can also help you make useful practice plans for the instrument you have at home.

Purposeful lessons, useful practice

Each week brings focused work, music-making, and feedback. Your teacher helps you recognize progress, work through challenges, and identify clear priorities for practice between lessons.

Our piano faculty includes teachers with strengths in classical repertoire, young beginners, adult learning, improvisation, contemporary playing, and songwriting.

Explore beyond the lesson

Optional DAMPA recitals offer a chance to share progress with family and friends. Students interested in creative work can ask about songwriting lessons or a scheduled recording project in The Studio.

Weekly private lessons

Choose a 30-, 45-, or 60-minute weekly format with your teacher. Standard tuition starts at $289/month for weekly 30-minute lessons.
