Their First Steps Into Music.
Play. Explore. Grow.
From their first musical experiences through preparation for private lessons, DAMPA's Early Childhood program uses singing, movement, instruments and play to build musical foundations during some of a child's most important developmental years.

AGES 18 MONTHS–6 YEARS

Mommy & Me • Music Explorers • Private & Semi-Private • Recital Opportunities

A first music lesson should feel like play—even when there's a lot of learning happening underneath.

Music That Meets Them Where They Are.

Whether your child thrives one-on-one, alongside a parent, or exploring music with other kids, we'll help you find the right place to begin.

Early Childhood Music

MOMMY & ME

18 months–3 years

A personalized introduction to music shared with a parent or caregiver.

30 minutes weekly
Private or semi-private with a friend
Flexible scheduling
$199/month

Sing, move, explore instruments and build early musical skills through activities designed around your child's age, development and personality.

MUSIC EXPLORERS

Ages 3–5

A small-group next step designed for growing independence, musicianship and social development.

45-minute classes
Tuesdays & Thursdays • 3:15–4:00 PM

Your membership gives you access to either weekly session. Both classes follow the same lesson plan, so families can choose the day that works best that week—because we know naps, preschool and life with a three-year-old don't always follow the calendar.

Meet Ms. Ody

Director of Early Childhood

Early Childhood Music

DAMPA's Early Childhood program is developed and led by Odalys “Ody” Mendez, an experienced music educator with specialized training in early childhood music.

Ody is Kindermusik-trained and has developed DAMPA's own Early Childhood curriculum to combine proven foundations of early music education with a modern, flexible approach designed for today's young learners.

Her curriculum continues to evolve alongside current best practices in early childhood music education, incorporating active music-making, movement, repetition, sensory exploration, child-led discovery, caregiver participation and developmentally appropriate progression.

Early Childhood Music instructors

Their Own Space to Explore.

Early Childhood students learn in a dedicated DAMPA Early Childhood classroom designed specifically for young musicians.

Instead of adapting a traditional private lesson room for toddlers and preschoolers, students have space to move, sing, play, explore instruments and learn at their level.

Their First Performance.

Music Explorers aren't only preparing for what comes next—they're already musicians.

Students ages 3–5 are invited to participate in a group performance at a DAMPA student recital, giving them an age-appropriate introduction to the stage alongside the rest of our music-school community.

There's no pressure to be a soloist. They experience preparing something together, performing as a group and discovering what it feels like to share music with an audience.

When They're Ready, We're Already Here.

Early Childhood Music

Early Childhood at DAMPA isn't about rushing children into formal lessons. It's about giving them the strongest possible foundation so that when they're developmentally ready, music lessons already feel familiar, exciting and achievable.

And because they're already part of DAMPA, the transition is easy. Our Early Childhood team can help families determine when a child is ready and connect them with the right teacher and instrument.
