Jacob Hord



INSTRUCTOR

Jacob Hord currently studies percussion and timpani under George Nickson and Brian Jones at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Previously, Jacob was studying with Doug Howard who recently retired after performing as Principal Percussionist with the Dallas Symphony for 41 years. In 2017, Jacob spent the summer touring with the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps performing in major cities throughout the U.S. and at the end of the summer, won DCI’s I&E marimba solo competition. In 2016 Jacob placed 1st at the North Texas Percussion Festivals percussion solo competition and the same year won the solo marimba category at the Texas PAS state championships.

In the summer of 2019, Jacob attended the Brevard Music Center summer Festival in North Carolina where he studied with David Fishlock and Charles Ross and won the Jan and Beattie Wood Concerto competition, performing Emmanuel Sejourne’s Concerto for Marimba and Strings with the Brevard Music Center Orchestra. In Dallas, Jacob is the organist/music director at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church and a freelance percussionist, organist, and accompanist throughout DFW.
