School of Rock Musical – Course

Coming to the Teatro Theater this Winter! School of Rock, the Musical first graced the stage in December 2015, and has continued to grow in popularity and delight audiences of all ages.

Based on the 2003 comedy School of Rock, the musical follows a dejected rock singer and guitarist after he is kicked out of his band and disguises himself as a substitute teacher to land a job at a prestigious private school. After witnessing the talent of his students, a band of 4th graders is formed in an attempt to win the upcoming battle of the bands.

Not all students must audition for a principal role, but are encouraged to do so. Once you are registered, an audition date and time will be provided for you.

No a Capella allowed, 32 bars in a similar style to the show. Selections from the show are OK.

For the Audition: Please prepare and bring 16 – 32 bars of a song that show your best range and style. Please bring sheet music clearly marked where you would like to begin and end your cut. An accompanist will be provided. We will also be reading scenes from the script. Please be familiar with the story of School of Rock and have an idea of who the characters are and their personalities. Please be dressed ready to move/dance. No sandals, no heels, dresses, etc.

Auditions will take place on September 11th in Studio B at 5:30PM 6705 Hillcrest Avenue.

Any student interested in the technical side (lights, sound, stage management, crew, etc.) are also encouraged to contact us and join!

You MUST be registered to take part in this production and we have limited spots available.
