Private lessons, built around your goals

For ages 10+ through adults, lessons support first-time songwriters, developing musicians, and experienced artists seeking focused feedback.

Develop lyrics, melody, chord harmony, song structure, and a writing process that works for you. Lyricists can explore turning words into songs; vocalists can build piano or guitar skills for writing and self-accompaniment.

Current songwriters can refine their singing or instrumental playing and develop the skills needed to record their work. Your teacher’s strengths and your priorities guide the plan.

Make theory part of your music

Connect musical ideas to what you hear and create. Explore chord progressions, keys, scales, rhythm, melody, harmony, and form through songs and examples relevant to you.

Whether you read notation, work from chords, or write by ear, we can build the understanding that helps you make more intentional choices.

Develop your voice for the studio or stage

Studio vocal technique

Work on healthy, expressive singing alongside microphone technique, consistency, phrasing, harmony, and the experience of recording a vocal. Listening back can make feedback concrete.

Live performance vocal technique

Explore singing with a microphone and PA, communicating a song, managing dynamics, and accompanying yourself where relevant. Your goals determine the balance of vocal development and performance practice.

Learn the recording arts by making music

Explore recording workflow, microphone use, editing, arrangement, production, and mixing through practical musical work.

Weekly private lessons

One student, one teacher, and a plan built around your music. Weekly sessions are available in 30-, 45-, 60-, and 90-minute formats, matched to goals and teacher availability.

Separately scoped recording and production projects are quoted through The Studio.

Bring a project to The Studio

The Studio is DAMPA’s professional on-site recording space, led by Recording Studio Director Paul Davis. Recording services welcome DAMPA students and outside artists, from developing songwriters to experienced performers.

Recording sessions are $100/hour. More involved projects receive a custom quote based on the arrangement, musicians, production, mixing/mastering, and agreed final delivery. We confirm staffing, scheduling, and scope before booking.

Every project starts with a conversation and a custom quote.

Demo Ready

Capture the song clearly so you can hear, share, or develop the idea. We agree on the accompaniment, recording, and preparation needed.

Arranged & Produced

Develop the arrangement and production, with additional vocalists or instrumentalists where the project calls for them. Musicians and recording work are selected and quoted for the song.

Finished Release

Build on the agreed production with mixing, mastering, and a defined delivery package. We plan the final versions and file requirements around how you intend to use the music.

Know what you’ll take home

Your quote defines the final files and delivery date. Depending on the project, these may include a finished stereo WAV master, a reference MP3, an instrumental or performance version, and consolidated multitracks or stems.

Raw recordings and processed production files are different deliverables. We agree on the versions, naming, sample rate/bit depth, revisions, and any session-file handoff before work begins.
