Melissa Priller

ELECTRIC VIOLIN

Melissa grew up near Chicago, Illinois where she began studying the violin at the age of four. Her studies eventually brought her to Dallas where she earned her Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance with a minor in Arts Entrepreneurship from Southern Methodist University while studying under concert violinist, Chee-Yun Kim. Melissa’s performance experience includes solo violin recitals, playing in various chamber ensembles, orchestra concerts, studio sessions, band shows, and experimental electronic music projects.

In addition to classical violin, Melissa plays electric violin and has experience in pop, rock, and jazz music. In 2013 Melissa became a member of the Dallas String Quartet. She has recorded albums, toured internationally, and performed all over Texas with DSQ. Some of her performances include the House of Blues, Dallas Cowboys pregame shows, NBA halftime shows, the JazzTrax festival, and opening for artist Kenny G. Melissa discovered her passion for teaching at a young age tutoring her peers.

By the time she was in high school she was giving extra help lessons to other violin students and starting students of her own. Melissa believes learning the violin can offer enrichment in many areas and is dedicated to helping students develop skills they will use in their everyday lives.
