POSITION AT A GLANCE

  • $35-$45 per teaching hour · W-2 employee
  • Voice + piano transition: Mon 3-8 p.m. / Tue 4-8 p.m.
  • Beginner piano + voice: Mon-Thu 4-8 p.m.
  • Saturday priority: 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Sunday teaching coming soon; hours to be confirmed
  • Start as soon as possible; no later than December 2026
  • 3415 Milton Ave., Dallas, TX 75205

Your teaching

• Teach weekly 30-, 45-, or 60-minute lessons within your specialty, from beginners to advanced students.

• Build healthy vocal technique and expression, or piano technique, reading, musicianship, and engaging repertoire.

• Set practical goals between lessons, prepare students for performances, and participate in our two annual recitals and student showcases. Provide accompaniment when it fits your skills and assignment.

Bring relevant teaching experience, strong musicianship, clear communication, and a dependable weekly commitment. A music degree is preferred, not required. Qualified graduate students and recent graduates are welcome.

A place to develop your interests

Songwriting, recording and production, early childhood music, advanced performance coaching, musical theatre, accompaniment, and ensembles are valued strengths—not additional requirements.

Have a specialty or an idea? There is room to develop masterclasses, group programs, camps, specialized lessons, recording projects, and performance opportunities. DAMPA can help create, market, and deliver new offerings. Department development and leadership may become possible based on skills, initiative, performance, and program needs; scope and compensation are discussed individually.

Support and benefits

• DAMPA handles scheduling, billing, enrollment, and client communications.

• Every lesson room has an acoustic upright or baby grand piano. Our recording studio includes a baby grand, Logic Pro, and vocal microphones.

• Complimentary lessons with fellow teachers and practice-room access support your development.

• Training pays $20/hour. Semi-private and group teaching pays 20% above your regular hourly rate. Recital and showcase compensation is separate, with details reviewed during hiring.

• At 30 hours per week, you become eligible for BCBS Gold PPO health insurance; DAMPA covers 50% of your monthly premium.

Schedule and current hiring priorities

• Voice-led student transition (voice plus piano): Monday, 3-8 p.m., and Tuesday, 4-8 p.m. We especially need a teacher with strong voice skills who can also teach piano to take over established students during a supported December 2026 transition. Wednesday is not part of this advertised handoff.

• Beginner piano + voice: Monday-Thursday, 4-8 p.m. We are seeking a teacher comfortable teaching beginners in both subjects for these weekday blocks.

• Additional voice, piano or combined teaching: Tuesday and Thursday, 3-8 p.m., are priority growth windows. Piano or combined teaching can also fit Wednesday, 4:30-8 p.m.

• Saturday staffing: Saturday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m., is a high-priority need for voice, piano and combined teachers.

• Sunday expansion: Sunday teaching is coming soon. Tell us your Sunday availability; the launch date and teaching hours will be confirmed before scheduling.

These are separate staffing needs, and we may match candidates to one or more of them. A voice-only or piano-only specialist is welcome for an appropriate assignment; the transition and beginner combined assignments require both skills. Tell us which blocks you can commit to consistently. You do not need to cover every listed day or the entire window. Your final schedule and student assignments will be agreed individually.

Your starting teaching load is agreed individually and grows with enrollment and availability. Neither available windows nor the health-benefit threshold guarantees paid hours.
