Acting for TV & Film Teacher

Help aspiring actors build believable on-camera performances, audition skills, and confidence through personalized weekly lessons.

Build something exciting at DAMPA

Dallas Academy of Music & Performing Arts is looking for an experienced TV and film acting professional who enjoys teaching and wants to help grow a program. Work with aspiring actors in weekly 30-, 45-, or 60-minute private lessons at our school in Snider Plaza.

We have a large musical theatre, pop, and singer-songwriter student base ready to explore new ways to perform and tell stories. Help them discover acting on camera—and bring your ideas for masterclasses and group classes that DAMPA will advertise and promote.

The teaching

Help students build believable performances through scene work, character development, listening, and improvisation. Coach auditions and self-tapes, introduce practical camera skills, and use recorded scenes and playback to turn feedback into progress. Lessons should feel encouraging, purposeful, and suited to each student’s age, experience, and goals.

You’ll prepare students for performance opportunities and attend our two annual recitals and student showcases, with acting presentations coordinated with the school. Share student progress and teaching needs with our team; DAMPA handles scheduling, billing, enrollment, and client communications so you can focus on teaching.

Who we’re looking for

Bring professional TV, film, or comparable on-camera experience, previous teaching or coaching experience, and the ability to explain your craft clearly. Strong scene analysis, familiarity with auditions and self-tapes, and a dependable weekly commitment matter. A degree in acting, theatre, film, or a related field is valued but not required.

Specialties are welcome: comedy, commercial acting, voiceover, filmmaking, public speaking, podcasting, and related communication skills can expand your lessons and class offerings. We’re looking for someone with the initiative to take ownership of this program and grow it with us.

Support for your work

We provide computers, a camera, wall-mounted TVs, iPads, and a recording studio with Logic Pro, vocal microphones, and a baby grand piano. We can provide additional teaching equipment you need. Studio access for your own projects during off hours and complimentary lessons with fellow DAMPA teachers support your continued development.

Optional opportunities include masterclasses, group classes, and summer camps. Our musical theatre department produces two full shows each year and smaller projects; interested faculty are a first-call resource, with that work paid separately. There’s room to grow into leadership based on your skills, performance, and initiative.

Pay, benefits, and schedule

This is an in-person W-2 position paying $35–$50 per teaching hour, based on experience and skill set, with room for increases through performance reviews. Training pays $20 per hour. Recital and showcase compensation is separate from lesson pay, with details reviewed during hiring. Earnings are based on teaching hours; semi-private and group teaching pays 20% above your regular hourly rate. At 30 hours per week, you become eligible for BCBS Gold PPO health benefits, with DAMPA covering 50% of your monthly premium.

Priority teaching blocks are Saturday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m., and Tuesday or Thursday, 3-8 p.m. Saturday staffing is a high priority. We will agree a consistent schedule and confirm a suitable teaching space and on-camera setup before assigning lessons. Sunday teaching is coming soon; launch date and hours will be confirmed. Availability for every day or the full window is not required. Your schedule will reflect your availability and student demand. Lessons take place at 3415 Milton Ave., Dallas, TX.

Your starting weekly teaching load will be agreed individually and will grow with enrollment, your availability, and the subjects you teach. Available windows are not a guaranteed number of paid hours. The 30-hour health-benefit threshold is an eligibility requirement, not a promised starting schedule.

Let’s meet

Send your resume and a short note about your teaching experience, availability, and ideas for the program. A reel or on-camera sample is welcome now and should be provided before an interview; a simple self-tape is fine. Tell us what you love to teach and what you’d like to build at DAMPA.
